Patricia O'Brien's oil portraits are an expression of humor, surprise, indifference, and the spectrum of emotions we all experience as we travel life's journey. It's these universal expressions that connect us with each other. By manipulating the tools available to the artist; pattern, palette, composition and more, these expressions are coaxed from the canvas.
In the brushstrokes of her floral paintings, she interprets the grace and beauty of a bloom created in nature. The sinuous lines and gentle palette work to evoke the feelings of bliss and serenity a flower can induce.
Her path from electrical engineer to self-taught artist guides her in questioning, experimenting, and problem solving. Her canvas work continues to be featured in gallery exhibitions, BSA Decorator Show Houses, TV and print media, public and private commissions.
